The Elf on the Shelf
On
Thanksgiving night, a special delivery was made to our doorstep....
The Elf on the Shelf. This is a darling book that explains how Santa knows if boys and girls are naughty or nice leading up to Christmas. He delivers a special elf. There are a few rules, you have to name your elf, Maddie named ours "Elfy." You are not allowed to touch him, but you can talk to him and tell him your wishes for Santa.
Every night after bedtime, Elfy flies home to the North Pole to report that days activities to Santa. Then, he returns before morning and "hides" in a new spot. We have a hunt for Elfy every morning. Elfy has been very helpful at encouraging good behavior, now if only we had some extra help like this every month of the year :)
Thanksgiving Recap
I'm feelin pretty behind in everything right now, including my blogs. So, this will be one big blog to catch us up to December.
November was such a quick month. However, we did enjoy hosting our first holiday in our new house! We had Thanksgiving dinner at our house and enjoyed the McVicker family, Grandpa Max & Pam Dibble, and Great Great Grandma Marian. We actually did two turkey's this year, a traditional roasted turkey & Dustin did a Fried one. Both were delicious, but to say we had leftovers is an understatement!
Maddie this year at school has moved on from being Thankful for pigs, to being thankful for her mommy, daddy and dogs! Whew! Glad we moved up the scale in her world :)

Halloween Trick or Treating!
We had a great time trick or treating in our new neighborhood. Maddie had just as much fun handing out candy as she did receiving it. I was the host of the neighborhood party in the park this year, so we started the afternoon decorating pumpkins and parading to the park in costume. We have so many great families and kids in our neighborhood, we are loving every minute!

Pumpkin Carving Party!
M&M Days
A couple days a week, one of our old neighbor girls, Morgan, comes over afterschool a couple of days a week. She is a great help with Maddie, and Maddie absolutely adores Morgan. Most days Maddie is waiting by the front door anxiously awaiting Morgan's arrival. She keeps Miss Morgan busy from the moment she arrives to the moment she walks out the door! This week, Morgan helped Maddie make her haunted house! They had lots of fun, and the house turned out great!

Sunday Funday @ the Pumpkin Patch
On Sunday, 10.10.10 we made our family trip to Shaake's Pumpkin patch! Mimi, Poppa & our friend Tara & Teagan came along! Maddie and Teagan had tons of fun picking out pumpkins, playing on the slides, seeing the animals and eating some yummy kettle corn! We couldn't have picked a better day! It was beautiful out!
